Love the Process – or Get Stuck
This blog launched a few short weeks ago – January 30th to be exact. It is quite literally in its infancy. Well before launching, my intentions were clear. Among them, I wanted to love the process of blogging. Knowing that when you do, you can channel a flow and a rhythm, and that becomes a fun habit. So, prior to launching I started writing content and conceptualizing an initial publishing cadence and expecting a decent period of being “on training wheels”. Then taking a leap, I published my first post.
After the blog went live, like anything that goes live, it took on a real life – not just the life planned for it. And over the last two weeks, I started paying attention to what I was learning from this baby of a blog that I launched into the world. It’s proven to be a true lesson on agility and learning how to love the process.
I realized that the process I was planning, while motivating, was already starting to feel more like a heavier lift than I wanted and was willing to give it. It wasn’t meant to take up a lot of time, and I wanted it to feel more doable. I wanted it to feel as effortless as possible.
So, I asked for perspective from my trusted council of advisors who expertly helped me to reframe the barriers I was experiencing. This core group of women execs really came through, and yet I needed one more piece of clarity to move this thing forward. This led me to asking myself, “What’s another way?”
And then it hit me: Just throw out the traditional blog!
Pursue the Process You’ll Love Doing
If the current process takes away from the main thing, from the main goal, that’s a signal for change. Throw out what’s not working.
Celebrate Your Decision to Love the Process
The focus going forward is a process that is more doable for the capacity I have right now.
Thus, only a few weeks after launching, I am taking my learnings and pivoting from traditional blogging to microblogging.
My readers win, and I win.
“Keep it do-able” is the new “keep it simple“. 😉
